Balkan ours is a series of photographs of some of the locations where political violence occurred during the communist regime. The contemporary state of these spaces does not carry a visual signifier of their history nor of the events which once took place there. The sites are obliterated through digital manipulation, referencing an infrared filter – which is typically used to uncover what the human eyes can’t perceive. The prints are printed on garbardine fabric  which is similar to the one used in the past for the production of military uniforms; which aimst to reference the recollections of survivors from forced labour camps who remember wearing old police uniforms which were given to them by the guards.
